Product Description Yes, it will have a steaming hot pot of coffee ready and waiting when you wake up, and the insulated stainless steel carafe will keep it hot for a long time. You can also grab a cup during the brew process if you like. Easy to operate and easy on the eye, this might just be the coffeemaker you've been waiting for.
Amazon.com Review Lots of folks dislike the burnt flavor that coffee gets when it sits in a glass pot over a heating element. To avoid this, coffee shops often brew right into large thermal pots to keep the coffee warm without it becoming overcooked. The Zojirushi Fresh Brew does that, too, but in home-sized batches. It looks great, too, with a glossy black body and stainless steel carafe and brew basket. To brew, lift the lid and swing the water outlet spout to one side while the filter is being loaded; the spout will return to its proper position when the lid is closed. A small red ball in the water gauge makes it extra simple to read. And an electronic clock module also serves as a timer that will start the brewer at a specified time. The carafe's lid is designed to be on during brewing, with a small cap to help keep the heat in after it's ready. The Fresh Brew also has a pause-and-serve function that stops the flow for 30 seconds while a cup of coffee is served. To clean the brewer unit, use a solution of white vinegar and water, following the instructions in the accompanying booklet. The unit is not immersible. The exterior can be wiped with a damp soft rag; do not use abrasives or scouring pads. The filter reservoir is removable; clean with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. The coffee brewer measures 15 by 12 by 9 inches (includes carafe handle when unit is completely assembled), and it uses #4 cone-shaped disposable paper filters. The Fresh Brew comes with a detailed instruction booklet. Zojirushi guarantees its products with a one-year limited warranty. --Garland Withers

not the greatest for convenience August 31, 2010 PJ (Omaha, NE) I thought I was going to love this product but didn't. You can't just brew and pour. The design was great but once I read the instructions I discovered that it wasn't worth the effort because I was using this to replace a much cheaper and easier to use product. I did return it and found a different one at the store.
Not Bad, But Not Perfect August 26, 2010 Anonymous 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm generally pleased with this coffeemaker but there are a few suggestions that have been mentioned before.
Do not listen to the instructions about how much to tighten the carafe lid prior to brewing, you'll struggle to get it open after the brewing process. I tighten it only to the point of resistance, barely snug, then when the coffee's ready it can easily be twisted open.
You DO have to be careful to correctly align the top of the carafe lid under the spring-loaded spout of the coffeemaker before you start brewing. It is easy to offset this and probably cause spilling. However, it only takes a glance to ensure it's aligned correctly so it's no big deal in my opinion.
Melitta paper filters seem a little too tall for this unit and that could cause problems if you're not careful. I use a gold filter which fits nicely in the unit so this is not a concern for me.
A few annoying things are that you have to swing the water arm away when loading grounds, then swing it back (or rely on the closing cover to do it, which I don't). Also, the separate carafe lid cover (that covers the lid holes after brewing) is one extra piece that you have to remember or could get lost. And the whole unit itself is lightweight and seems flismy but that might not be a bad thing since this and other tall coffeemakers usually have to be moved out from under the cabinets in order to open the lid and fill the water. So I can live with these few annoying things.
Oh, and it makes decent coffee!
terrible. August 24, 2010 Lilly Dutton (San Rafael, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this coffee maker. It broke the first week and I was able to return it for a new one. The second one periodically would just overflow, leaking coffee, grounds all over the counter and floor for no apparent reason. I would return this one, except I have had it for more than thirty days. After a few of these "episodes" I simply put the thing in the trash. My experience, but I feel particularly annoyed because I purchased it because of the good reviews on here. I will question high marks in the future.

The coffee maker looks sleek and came highly rated but in my opinion there are two major flaws. First the water spews out in one stream instead of multiple spray heads thus the full flavor of the coffee does not come out because only one small part of the coffee is used.
Secondly, the thermal carafe does not keep the coffee very hot. I have a Melitta which is the better coffee maker by far and it came free with a coffee club!
DON'T BUY IT! August 20, 2010 Big Ben (Boynton Beach, FL United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Four months after we bought this coffee maker, it leaked out of the bottom when we turned it on, and now it doesn't work.
Minor quibbles: because of its poor design the top is difficult to open and align for pouring - can't get a good grip on it, and the mark that indicates proper alignment for pouring is difficult to see.
I don't know why I bought this. I have a Zoji bread maker, and numerous attempts to get customer support never received a reply.
