Great coffee maker.. September 9, 2010 mj (Virginia) My Braun finally died after 20 years of service. After buying this machine based off all the positive reviews, I realize I stuck with my Braun far too long. This Cuisinart makes great coffee. I do agree with the complaint about the "ready beeps" however. They are too loud, and they sound more like a smoke detector going off. Other than that, I really have no complaints. The thing just flat makes damn good coffee..
Makes terrific coffee! September 6, 2010 Redwoods Rumba I bought this after years of having Mr. Coffee makers. It's a great quality product, easy to clean. But the best thing is that the same coffee I was using actually tastes better! In the Mr. Coffee, the coffee would sometimes taste burnt. I think it has something to do with better temperature regulation. I like the permanent filter, and being able to program the auto-off time. The only drawback is that the cup #s are hard to read while you are filling the reservoir with water. But that's minor compared to having a really great-tasting cup of coffee! Also, the Cuisinart manual is one of the best I have seen for coffeemakers, very detailed and informative. Cuisinart DCC-1100 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, White
So far, great! August 28, 2010 Caroline (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been using this coffee maker for 3 weeks now.... It's great! This is my first coffee maker....
After reading the reviews online (for this product and all of the other coffee makers) I was frankly terrified to buy a coffee maker. It seemed that every product had a different problem. I decided to cut my losses and buy a cheap 4cup Mr. Coffee coffee maker. I was about to purchase it, when I realized that between the coffee maker, the filter, and shipping (which wasn't included since the coffee maker and filters were coming from 2 different sellers) the total cost was the same as this Cuisinart (which came with a reusable filter and has a 3 year warranty!). I figured it would be a better investment to buy the Cuisinart because even if I did have problems, I was guaranteed a coffee maker for the next 3 years :)
Like I said, this was my first coffee maker, so I read the instructions. I know some people commented on it being complicated, but honestly the instructions were really clear. I've been programming it to make coffee when I wake up in the morning for 3 weeks without any problem. I usually make less than 4 cups, so I just click the 1-4 cups function and it brews a great cup of coffee! I'm not sure exactly how long it takes to make the 4 cups (cuz I normally just program it to brew 15-30min before I want to drink it)... but I think it's a little less than 5 min. It automatically shuts off after 2 hours, but I changed it to 1 hour since I rarely stick around longer in the morning (it's really easy to change the shutoff time, again just read the tiny paragraph in the instructions)...If I can do this, anyone can :)
Finally, the coffee tastes great and I haven't had any problems. No leaking during brewing or pouring of coffee. When filling the coffee maker with water I simply rest the lip of the carafe on the machine and pour... no problems. There are markings on the carafe and the coffee maker to measure water levels (They don't seem to be exactly the same volumes -- at least not for <4cups -- so I just use the markings on the machine). The only complaint that seems valid, is that it's quite tall; at first I was pulling it out from under the cabinets to fill, but I just moved it to a counter top without a cabinet over it. But I don't think this is a big deal... Lastly, the carafe and filter (I'm not sure about the reusable filter) are dishwasher safe (top shelf).... I hope this helps people!
PROs:
1) Good investment when you consider shipping, filters and 3year warranty
2) Great coffee -- great 1-4 cup function
3) Easy to program
4) Dishwasher safe carafe and filter
5) No problems so far!
CONs:
1) Tall -- could be a problem if you have low cabinets
Love my Cuisinart!! August 22, 2010 Angel Penate 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I researched and researched and finally got the Cuisinart DCC-1100. I love this coffee maker. We do use paper filters as the basket is too messy for my crazy morning schedule. The only con for me is the loud beep when the coffee is finished. I wish I could either turn it down or off since I have to leave the house before the kids wake up, although they have gotten used to the noise and don't even wake up anymore. :)
