5 out of 5 stars Good coffee and fast   August 9, 2010

We spend five months a year traveling in an RV, and we enjoy our coffee. This machine takes up no counter space and brews a full pot in less than 5 minutes. We love it!!

4 out of 5 stars New and improved   July 26, 2010

My husband and I agree that the new design is a marked improvement from the old model. To begin with, we like the sleeker look of the new model. The most important improvement to us, however, is the elimination of the old hot plate. Ours always seemed to get coffee residue buildup so that the hot plate no longer kept the coffee as hot as it once did when it was new. The new design doesn't use a hot plate but a thermal carafe. Surprisingly, the coffee stays hot for several hours after brewing. Lastly, one of our favorite features of the old model was that you poured water straight into its reservoir instead of having to fill the carafe and then pour the water into the coffee maker like you do on most conventional coffee makers. The new model isn't as convenient but better than the conventional coffee maker. We find that it is easier to fill the carafe with water and then pour it into the reservoir to get an accurate amount of water in the reservoir. Otherwise, you risk under filing or overfilling the reservoir because of its new design. A minor issue nonetheless. We have a coffee bar in our bedroom so waking up to fresh brewed coffee, when we want it, is one of the simple pleasures of life. This coffee maker fits the bill.

4 out of 5 stars B&D spacemaker coffeemaker SDC850   June 20, 2010

It is so gorgeous! Makes great coffee. Have had no problem with it like a few other reviews have mentioned. Wish it had a light behind the clock. Also, I set the coffee up at night and my husband turns it on in the morning. If you get to it after the fresh light goes off, you don't know if the coffee has been made or not. You have to take the pot out and physically look in it to see if it has been made. The carafe is fantastic! Keeps it warm for hours after it is made. I love that it is cool to the touch. No one is going to get burned by this pot. It is soooo worth the price!

4 out of 5 stars Good cup over all   June 3, 2010

Yes it is a little hard to get the top off to mount it but it do able. Just put two screws in the top and pull back. A little pain to get installed but they give you. We had an old b&d we replaced and I am very happy so far. No leaking issues and it makes a good cup of joe.

1 out of 5 stars Not Impressed   May 24, 2010

Nice looking but that's about it. Templete was not marked correctly and difficult to understand, ended up installing 3/4" further forward than I wanted. Clock is not backlit, hard to see, useless. Pulling off the mounting plate was difficult, had to use a screwdriver to wedge it off. Mounting screws were either too short or too long, had to cut the long screws that bottomed out and prevented backplate reinstallation. Spacers were useless, made my own. Thermal carafe when full is heavy when removed, caught my wife off guard and she dropped it. To get coffee to flow out of the carafe you have to push the button on the handle, that requires you to use both hands, one to push button, other to hold carafe. Also found water drops on the counter, source unknown. But it does make good coffee and stainless carafe keeps coffee warm, however, if you like hot coffee you'll have to microwave a cup.
