Cuisinart gets it right! August 30, 2010 D. Gean (Michigan) I had an Cuisinart coffee maker years ago, and swore them off. I saw this model at a friends house and after listening to their rave reviews, checked here and saw they weren't the only ones that like this machine.
So we ordered one and it is all they say. Great coffee, easy to clean, a joy to own. No LED light is a very minor issue. Otherwise it's perfect.
Great Coffeemaker August 30, 2010 First Review Excellent coffee maker. I ordered this for my office because the staff kept leaving the old one on all night & and making a mess when they poured it. I have heard nothing but wonderful comments since we replaced the old worn-out machine with this one. No more spills and no more fire hazard overnight! AND the coffee tastes much better. I highly recommend this coffee maker. (BTW, I have the older version at home which is why I knew this was a good machine already before I ordered.)
Speed Kills! Personally, I love the nice SLOW brewing option. August 25, 2010 eMac (TN) I got lucky and found my DCC-2600 on a clearance rack at a local B&M retailer a few months ago. I scored a great deal, but would consider it a bargain at twice the price!
OK, some reviewers (not just here, but all coffeemakers,) tout a quick brew as a positive thing. For me, the opposite is true! I searched high and low for one that would NOT brew too fast.
This fabulous godsend of a machine has - not one but two - means by which you can OPTIONALLY slow down that brew cycle and make a nice bold cup, without having to use twice as much coffee.
For years I was on a mission to replace my beloved Melitta Pure Perfection (discontinued long ago.)
It was incredibly hard to find a machine that combined my personal 2 most important preferences:
1. Cone filters, and
2. A brew strength option.
All the other bells & whistles barely matter to me. (Not knocking them! But they're just icing, IMO.)
1. Cone filters because I use the quality Melitta #4s, and have never once had one collapse and allow coffee grounds to seep down into my brew pot, as the basket style, or even some cheap-o cone filters are prone to do. Grrrr. (Maybe that's just me, but FWIW.)
2. The brew strength option is simply because I do like a nice bold cup, but I rarely make a full pot. Thus, in most "regular" machines, and particularly with the quick-brew Bunn type; I have to use far more coffee than I'd like, just to brew my usual half pot.
This machine gives you both a brew strength option, AND a 1-4 cup setting. (I use both! No matter how many cups I'm making. Mmmm, nice slowwwwww brewing action...)
I'm sure other folks have covered all the other machine details- but I just wanted to shout out to any fellow strong coffee drinkers who might also be searching for the same things I was.
THIS is the machine for you.
99.9% Perfect August 21, 2010 Williston Have had this unit for about a month now and it's a great coffee maker. It's worth the extra price. Use the "Bold" setting and you can use less coffee with the same amount of water to get a great tasting brew. The "1-4" cup setting works perfectly. There is only ONE little addition that would make it IDEAL: a LIGHT for the clock! A 10-cent LED behind the display is all it would take to make this unit PERFECT.
Great Coffee Maker!! August 20, 2010 musicmom (Watford City, ND USA) I bought this coffee maker to replace my 19 year old Bunn. I was looking for a coffee maker that was more consistent and would make more than my 8 cup coffee maker. I love this Cuisinart. My coffee is very consistent. I love the "bold" option - we drink our coffee quite strong. I also ended up purchasing a Capresso conical burr grinder as well. Between the two machines, I am using a lot less coffee to make a strong cup. Love the temp. control for the warming pad as we like our coffee very hot. Another option we have truly enjoyed is the timer on the warming plate. You can program how long you want it to stay on. We have it on for 3 hours and our coffee does not get stale (reverse osmosis water). We only grind the coffee ahead of time when my husband goes to work at 5 am. The programmable option has been a dream. I do not have any problems putting the water in the machine and don't really have any complaints after owning this machine for about 4 months.
