Decent coffee but some akwardness to the design August 27, 2010 L. M. Stephenson (St. Louis, MO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Brewstation (different model) had a good review in consumer reports and reasonable reviews on life expectancy on Amazon so I picked this up at Target. When set on regular, the coffee was too weak but was pretty good once we set the strength to bold.
The reservoir is somewhat awkward to fill (I have spilled it more than a few times). The other annoying feature is that if you do not push the cup against the back firmly, it dribbles. It also always dribbles when you reach the end of the pot.
The little quibbles aside, I enjoy this coffee maker. It is simple to use and makes a good cup of coffee. And, it is very reasonably priced.
Don't buy this coffee maker! July 19, 2010 Diana Gilman (Northglenn, Colorado United States) I read all the bad reviews on this coffee maker, but because I have owned two other brew stations in the past, and loved them, when it was time to replace the last one, I bought this one. What was Hamilton Beach thinking? Besides the leaking problem, which is much worse than I thought possible, after 8 months, the inside coating starts to come off. I think it actually cooks off. This pot gets so hot, the coffee boils in the pot. My son feared a fire. We always turned it off when we left the house, don't depend on the auto shut off. Back to the point, yesterday, I made a pot of coffee, and everyone started complaining about the taste. I threw out the coffee in the pot, and took a look. The black coating (plastic???) was peeling off and it smelled of burnt plastic. So unless your into eating plastic, stay away from this model!
Auto-program will not activate July 11, 2010 M. DuBransky (Central CA) I was seriously excited to get this coffee maker. I ran a trial pot with just water, and the water dispensed without any mess. I tried to set it to begin brewing at a certain time tomorrow morning, but following all directions, the clock never began blinking to set the program. The only way I can use it is to begin brewing right as I want to use it. That's not what I paid $60 for, so it's
going back. Would have been great if it worked...I am considering replacing it in spite of the negative comments.
GREAT Coffee Maker! June 7, 2010 Michelle Pike (Georgia) For me personally I have found this to be a wonderful coffee maker! I read the other reviews where people have been talking about it making a mess but I can honestly say that I have not seen that.
I've had this coffee maker for several months; I bought it to replace the piece of crap Cuisinart that I had and I have had no trouble with it at all. I use regular coffee cups with it and haven't had the dribbling problems or mess that other's have seen with it.
But after owning the crappy Cuisinart Coffee Maker anything is better!!!!!! I think this has been good value for money and we are very pleased with it.
Worst coffee maker ever May 26, 2010 cameramama This is absolutely the worst coffeemaker ever. We bought it 8 months ago when our good old $20 Mr. Coffee was broken by movers. This one looked so great. Boy were we wrong! This thing makes such a mess! The spout for the cup is up so high that it's hard to see how much coffee is in your cup. Also, if you don't position the cup just perfectly against the lever you end up with coffee all over the place. On top of that, lifting the lid on the top makes a big mess because condensation builds up on it every time you brew a pot of coffee. So, when you open the lid, water runs all down the coffeemaker. As if all of that wasn't bad enough, we've only had this thing for 8 months and the black finish on the inside of the pot is coming off - I discovered it all over my towel when cleaning it tonight. So, unless you want a big mess and want to drink whatever type of paint they used for the bladk finish on this thing, don't buy this coffeemaker.
