Bit disappointed in Drups July 5, 2010 Linda Reidinger I have had numerous Krups coffeemakers over the years and have always been pleased. So, when my last one died, I purchased the Krups FME4,since it had all the options important to me. After the first couple days of use, I was a bit disappointed with my purchase. The first problem was the lid can not be removed from the carafe which causes a problem getting it easily into a dishwasher and it is very flimsy. The stainless steel front which looks great, shows every fingerprint and the door can not be closed without touching the finish. Last issue although the least of the problems is that it's the loudest brewing coffee maker I have ever owned. I have never heard anything quite like it. You could almost use it for an alarm clock, but you know when you coffee is done because it beeps too.
Really HOT Coffee, Great Setting Options March 24, 2010 E. Ronakov (Sunny Cali, USA) We bought this one when I cracked the pot on our Old Reliable Mr. Coffee. Despite the poor reviews here. We had read some really great reviews too, so let me break down the arguments.
It will leak when overfilled. All pots will.
It brews much hotter than our old pot.
It does take about 3-5 minutes to brew a full 12 cup cycle. I have read the slower the brew the better the flavor, but I'm an impatient sort.
The permanent filter is different than standard Krups models. Look for the product name on the filter box.
You really only need 1/2 of a cup of grinds to brew good coffee. Don't overfill the filter and you won't get grinds in your bin.
It is EASY to keep clean, it will even tell you when to run a clean cycle.
Read all of the best and worst reviews, everyone reviews differently. 5 stars to me means it does it's job and will hold up to my 2 brews a day.
Just Plain Junk!!! December 11, 2009 Ted B. Bean (Washington State) Purchased this machine & the first time we made a pot of coffee, the electrical components got so hot it almost caught on fire, smoke was coming out of the machine. Returned it for a replacement. The 2nd one did not work at all. Called the manufacturer & they could care less. Their attitude was pretty much "Oh Well, So What". Our son had the same Krups & it lasted about 6 months. We now have a Cuisinart Brew Central & so far it is great.
Stinks! December 7, 2009 M. Marchi (weed, CA) This coffemeker is made of a plastic that when heated it sticks so bad that you have to areate the house!!!
Tried to wash it with vinagre as suggested by the Krups Customer Service, but it keeps on stinking!!
We had a Krups coffemaker in the past and we had no such a problem. We had to send this one back for credit.
Dry grounds November 29, 2009 Deacon (South Carolina) No matter what size pot, there are always dry ground after it brews. I email Krups and they blew me off.
