| Customer Reviews: Poorly designed and too small September 3, 2010 Donna Conover I bought this coffeemaker because it was inexpensive and supposedly 12 cups. Unfortunately, it considers a "cup" to be about 4 ounces! There's no way you get 12 cups out of it.
Also, the cover for the carafe is very badly designed; you have to snap two plastic prongs into place and twist them to get the cover off. It felt like impending trouble, and sure enough one of the prongs broke off within a couple of weeks.
Also, all of the coffee never drains into the carafe. When you take it apart, you will find a puddle in the basket. Another design flaw.
It is also very hard to clean. The plastic became discolored and stained and didn't clean up even with vinegar solution; the carafe, even with scrubbing, never looked clean.
The carafe itself got a hole in it from a slight bum against another pot, rendering the coffeemaker useless since it is very hard to find another carafe. I did find a "universal" one (who knows if it would actually fit), but it cost almost as much as the coffeemaker did new! Suffice it to say, I just bought a new Black and Decker for only a bit more than the carafe would have cost. In fact I paid less for it than I did for the Proctor Silex, and I like it far better.
Great coffeemaker May 26, 2010 zzbo (usa) Had this for a couple month's now and it really is a great coffeemaker,
with I think could have had a few improvements.
1.Led is not lighted.
2.Too easy to accidentally hit the minute and hour set buttons.
Those are the reasons it received a 4 star instead of a 5.
Other wise for the price its a bargain, it makes a good coffee in a short amount of time and keeps the coffee hot.
Kitty March 15, 2010 Kitty If you don't care about bells and whistles on a brewer this is perfect. After 2 weeks of use it developed some spots on the warmer which in time I think might start peeling off which is why I originally bought this as a replacement for my old one.
perfect coffee maker for the price January 18, 2010 Professional Shopper (Illinois USA) I purchased this coffeemake after reading extensive reviews on Amazon and other web-sites for coffemakers at this price range. My mother-n-law came to visit me and her son for a week. Since she is a regular coffee drinker which I am not, needed to find one that was reasonably price and functioned well. This one did. My mother-n-law enjoyed her morning cup. I bought the more pricier filter cups so I'm sure that plays a part in good coffee. The coffee maker doesn't leak water on the countertop like other lower-priced coffee maker. I purchased the one in white which I'm glad I did instead of the white. The clock is not lit but that was ok for me. All in all for this price range this is a good one.
Great coffee maker February 15, 2008 HF (NY United States) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is a great machine. It heats up fast, and brews fast. I read the reviews about the coffee tasting like plastic, and I had the same problem at first. But I cleaned it with the vinegar solution, and after a couple uses, the plastic taste went away and now we just have a great machine.
