Good Quality For The Money September 4, 2010 M. Milstead (Alabama) This product is very basic, but it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a coffee maker - I found this one at Target for $18 and it has been great so far! No complaints.
Okay for the price, once we figured it out August 4, 2010 P. McGinn (Maine, USA) I had been researching coffee makers online and couldn't find any that everyone liked (not surprisingly). There are always 5 star and 1 star reviews on everything. So we ended up buying this coffeemaker spur of the moment for practically nothing (comparatively speaking) at Target.
When I started using it, I would have readily agreed with two of the critiques I have seen on this site: that the carafe doesn't pour very well when it is full, and that it makes weak coffee. But my wife pointed out that as I used 3 scoops of coffee to make 8 cups in our percolator, it might take more than 4 scoops to make 12 cups in this one. So I started using 5 scoops and the coffee isn't weak anymore. Problem solved. Then I stopped making 12 cups and put slightly less water in - 10 or 11 cups - and it pours better now, as a lot of the problem was when I first started pouring. Plus I pour more slowly.
Okay, so maybe I shouldn't have to adapt so much to my coffee maker, but it was dirt cheap and I bought it, so I am going to get good use and good coffee out of it for as long as I can. I haven't used the timer and have a zillion clocks in the house so I don't worry about those functions or whether the clock is backlit or not. We keep unplugging it to plug in other small appliances anyway.
Our last coffee maker cost about $50 and lasted barely past the limited warranty date, so I don't envision much problem getting this one to be more of a value than that.
You can pay more for a lot less! May 15, 2010 Marc Nuss (Texas, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Again, i read the reviews prior to purchasing and found many people going for the "High End" coffee makers and ended up not being satisfied. My wife wanted a programmable for the odd times she may have to get up in the morning so coffee would already be brewed and waiting. This maker also comes in a non programmable model but you don't have to use the programming feature and can bypass it as i often do. It brews a great cup of coffee, the 12 cup pot is enough for us to enjoy a morning cup and fill our to go mugs. It brews the coffee hot and keeps it hot. The only thing to be aware of is that it has an automatic 2 hour shut off for safety - a good thing for those of us who forget to turn the coffee maker off - but can be annoying on days you are home and may want a hot cup later on. All you have to do is push the button on the right again and it will rewarm. I love this coffee maker and would recommend trying this one before much more expensive models unless you just like spending money.
Not recommended May 7, 2010 Suzanne (California) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this coffee pot and would not recommend it. It makes coffee but it makes weak coffee no matter how much coffee is used. The water seems to drip through the filter too fast. It is also hard to read the display since it is not lighted. I will be returning this item
IT SUCKS!!!! March 13, 2010 Renata W. Stetina (Southern Minnesota) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased this product Nov 2009. The carafe has a design flaw and spills coffee all over the counter while pouring, but that's not the complete problem. Within a few weeks, it would stop brewing in the middle of a pot of coffee and the ON OFF button seemed to work intermittently. I cleaned it with vinegar water, as recommended. That didn't help. Finally, the ON OFF button stopped working completely. It's in the pushed in position, so the unit can't be turned on anymore, and within a few months of owning this product, it's shot. We made coffee once a day. Never abused it. Never immersed it. Shame on you, Sunbeam, for selling such crap. You used to have a good reputation. AVOID buying this, Folks. You'll be disappointed. Spend your money elsewhere.
