I don't know why people keep bashing this coffee maker September 2, 2010 Leah I have had this coffee maker for 2 years now and it has never failed me. I got it as a moving gift and it has honestly been the best coffee maker I have ever owned. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee super hot (even if you put it in the fridge (lid kept on) it is still HOT after 2 hours!). The coffee doesn't come out bitter like people are saying...I think those people are just putting too much coffee in or pressing the brew button twice to make the coffee extra strong...honestly with this coffee maker you can use your coffee more sparingly than you would with an ordinary coffee maker. This is a GOOD product and I would highly recommend!
worest coffee pot ever August 7, 2010 coffeenut This pot does not give you hot coffee, sometimes warm. The clock and timer doesn't work after a month because it is next to the brewer and water.
Don't buy it!
The coffee pot June 19, 2010 Ya (USA) I got this coffee pot as a wedding gift. It was great for a couple months. But, then...After 2 cups (thats mine and my husbands) we have to warm it up in the microwave. We do use cold lactaid (like milk) as a creamer. When I try to sneak a cup, it does continue to brew all over!!!! Which is weird because I thought it said you can do that. Hmmm...Then when I pour a cup it dripples on the counter. So if you buy this coffee pot prepare to keep a paper towel by the pot or sponge it eveytime you get a cup. Needless to say...I still like the pot, but getting up in the morning is a chore to make coffe, then rewarm it up, clean up a mess that should not happen...then head to work....by the way, I guess you get what you pay for.....(plus the paper towels and sponge cost ;)
despite other reviews...we like it! May 4, 2010 Laney (Neenah, WI USA) I bought this because our previous thermal coffee maker had way too many faults (Black and Decker). I also had a coupon AND Kohls cash so I bought this at Kohls. Then of course when I got it home I remembered too late to read the reviews here about the machine. I was very worried I had made a mistake, even though my final cost after tax was $40.
So far we love it. The water pours into the back reservoir very easily, with its own special flap so you don't accidentilly pour it into the grounds/filter. It makes the perfect temp coffee to drink right away. Not sure who like their coffee scalding hot - that you can't even drink it, but this is the perfect heat so you can drink it straight from pot. The thermal pot pours very nicely. I do have a slight issue with the button you press to pour it, b/c I have wrist issues so it hurts a little to have to press down so hard with thumb. However, my husband has no issues and since our previous pot spilled all over the couter when no matter how you poured it, this one is awesome.
so far everything else works on it, and we are perfectly happy with it.
Sometimes I think we get too caught up in all the negative reviews, that we forget that most people that are happy with a product will not spend the time reviewing it. There is more motivation to write negatively than positive!
Hope this helps!
mr. coffee, the good and the bad April 26, 2010 Bette Vidrine (Louisiana USA) I've had this coffeemaker for about two months now. I bought it because in the previous three months I had broken three glass carafes, and it was getting ridiculous.
The good/the bad: makes very good coffee, keeps it warm for as long as we want. I like the set delay timer, but it's no good in the winter because when the weather is cold, you need to warm the pot before brewing.
The neutral: extremely bright light on clock. Lights up that whole half of the house at night.
The bad: ergonomically poor design. You have to push very very hard on the button to get the coffee to pour. My friends who have any kind of hand problems can't do it. I don't mind serving them. But, it hurts my fingers too, sometimes, and so I have to unscrew the lid to get to the coffee.
Also when you turn the pot right side up after letting it dry in the dish drainer, it leaks from the top. I think all the seals are pretty poor quality.
Yes, I would buy it again because of the good features, but I would hope Mr. Coffee can fix the ergonomic problem.
