Got it for my Mother July 20, 2010 C. Burke-Datko (USA) My Mother doesn't like the complicated high tech coffee makers, so this was reasonably priced. Ok....it lasted only 2 years. We have hard water here so we had to clean it w/vinegar once a month or more. Well, where do I start? You get what you pay for? I guess that would be a big yes! Everytime you pour coffee it would spill all over, when the coffee was brewing you would hear coffee sizzling out of the carafe. No matter how many times you clean it w/vinegar it just seemed to get slower and slower. It took a good 40 minutes to brew coffee and not to mention that if you fill the carafe to 12 cups, we ended up w/8. If we were lucky 10. I know that some of the water does get into the filter but it would suck up 2-4 cups worth. And I don't know why but the warmer part of it whether it was our fault or manufacturers but the paint started (if it was paint or not!) coming off of it! The light on the switch was intermittant. Then...it just stopped brewing. That was 2 years worth of making a pot of coffee in the morning. My Mom likes to keep her appliances a long time. We had a Mr. Coffee when I was a teenager and it lasted all through my junior high to high school. So, either Mr. Coffee isn't worth it anymore or you need to pay more for a better model.
not bad for $15 July 12, 2010 Robert E. Corbett (Gobles, MI United States) I bought this for $15 at "wally world" It makes coffee my old sunbeam lasted about 2 years using it about 5 times a day. So this is a cost to own of $7.50 per year. I like simple appliance and am unwilling to spend $100 for a coffee maker. Use a glass tray or cookie tray underneath the coffee maker and dont worry about the drips. I am not sure what people expect in an appliance that costs the price of 2 cans of coffee but for me its fine....
Makes coffee and makes a mess May 14, 2010 R. McBroom (Lawton, OK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When my brewstation broke, I refused to pay more than $20 on a coffeemaker that will eventually break. The motto "You get what you pay for" definitely applies to this appliance. It does make coffee but that's about all it does successfully. The carafe isn't designed to pour cleanly so it spills all over the place. It's supposed to stop dripping when you take the carafe out but it keeps on keeping on. And the spout that pours water into the coffee grounds pours on the side so the filter bends over and you end up with more than coffee in your cup. Total waste of money. Next time I will fork out more dough for a coffeemaker that doesn't ruin my morning.
simple is better February 21, 2010 Consuelo M. Olivarez This is the perfect coffeemaker for me. On & Off is all I need. It's black and reasonabl priced. I love it.
Not bad for price January 24, 2010 ehm (MA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It works well enough for under $20 in our throwaway culture. Two issues I encountered:
It has a strong chemical plastic smell when it's new.
You have to be careful how you set the paper filter in the basket and position the water sprinkler. The water stream can push the filter paper edge down, especially on smaller batches, so that half the water bypasses the grounds, resulting in weak coffee.
